Owensboro [KY] Municipal Utilities' FiberNet continues to expand :: MuniNetworks

NCTA (big ISP and cable) tells FCC the broadband market is "wildly competitive";   Doug Dawson:   "The only way to claim that broadband is ‘wildly competitive’ is to count broadband speeds slower than the FCC’s 25/3 Mbps definition. If the FCC was to accept cellular broadband and satellite broadband as the equivalent of landline broadband, then a large majority of homes would be deemed to have access to multiple sources of broadband. I would restate the NCTA’s ‘wildly competitive’ claim to say that a majority of homes in the country today have access to multiple crappy sources of broadband." :: POTS and PANs

"[C]able operators have no intention of ceding the fiber advantage to the telcos and other rivals. In fact, nearly 87% of respondents said their company has already started extending fiber deeper into the access network or plans to start doing so by the end of this year. Just as notably, over one third of respondents (nearly 36%) said their company aims to go all the way to a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) architecture, while another 29% said their company will go to a node-plus-zero (N+0) architecture." :: Light Reading
